Raquel de souza (pronounced Deh-SO-ZAH) is a singer songwriter from NY. Raquel performs with her band The Raquel de Souza Band, an up and coming country rock band based in New York. The band is known for their high energy and engagement with the audience.
Raquel’s first single “Run Towards the Highway” (released Sept. 2017) ranked #32 out of 50 on DRT Global Top 50 Country Airplay Chart on May 19th, 2018 along side of house hold names such as Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton. The song was on the Top 50 Airplay charts for 10 consecutive weeks straight!
She released “Run towards the Highway” with a music video on youtube (filmed by Monster in the Dark) and was featured on outlets such as “Hot New Music Videos” and “Making Music Magazine”. The song was also featured on Nashville Country Music Magazine (May 2018 Edition).
Raquel found her full band by Feb. 2018 and by April 2018 they recorded a demo with 7 new songs. Originally the band started out with five members and recently added a new bass player and its sixth member on keys/rhythm guitar/harmonica in 2019.
Their performances includes opening for Jessica Lynn at Daryl’s House Club, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, Woodstock Arts & craft fair, The Nyack Food Truck Festival and many more. Raquel recently released two new single with two new music videos (Filmed by Lawton Meyer), “King of the Jungle” and “What’s done is done” . On December 5, 2018 Raquel’s new song “What’s Done is Done’” and “King of the Jungle” was featured in the “Women to Watch Wednesday” country playlist. “King of the jungle” made its radio debut Feb. 22, 2019 on 100.7 WHUD.
This year Raquel and the band will be going on their first radio tour starting February 2019.
The band includes Raquel de Souza (lead vocals/writer), Matt Bauer (drums), Luis Cruz (guitar), Catherine Lines (violin/fiddle), Michelle Nadler (bass) and Dana Mancuso (keys/guitar/harmonica).
