After ten years of planning and fundraising, KRFC sent out its first sound waves on March 1, 2003. The story started more than two decades ago, when dedicated and passionate community members pulled together to create a radio station that speaks to Northern Colorado.
Today they tell stories through music and ideas not found on main-stream media to thousands of listener members just like you—and it’s all delivered by volunteers who give of their time because they love what they do and they love KRFC. They’ve evolved since that March day, but one thing hasn’t changed. KRFC is committed to making great radio that is local, noncommercial and volunteer powered. There aren’t many radio stations that can make that claim.
KRFC is a 501c(3) corporation that is governed by a volunteer board of directors who are elected by members of KRFC to create Station Policies. KRFC has paid staff who help keep things running as smoothly as possible. Programming on KRFC is determined by the Program Director with the input of staff and the KRFC community.
